文化の力で奇跡の村に再興するKITO DESIGN PROJECTのハブとして未来コンビニは作られた。未来とは「子供は未来から来た未来人」から名づけられた。またこの地域は日本で初めて柚子の継ぎ木に成功した歴史的地でもあり、この場に木頭の未来を作る想いを込めるため、柚子の木を模した建築構造をデザインの軸に添えた。これは汎用的な立体トラス構造を村民も参加し、ゆずイエローで丁寧に塗り分ることでつくられた。またこの地は日本一降雨量を誇ることからテラスも含んだ大屋根をかけ、雨や木頭の自然を日本一美しく感じる建築とした。
子供や老人への配慮から什器や個室の天井の高さは低く抑えられ、すべての要素が大屋根の下でひとつの空間となる。その大屋根は温かな光が照らされ、人々がこの場に集い、地域の催しが日常的に行われ、生活を営む。

MIRAI CONVENIENCE STORE was created as a hub for the KITO DESIGN PROJECT, a project to rebuild a miraculous village through the power of culture. The name “MIRAI” comes from the phrase “children are the person from the future. This area is also the historical site of Japan's first successful yuzu tree splicing. To express the idea of creating the future of the Kito, an architectural structure resembling a yuzu tree was added to the design axis. This general-purpose three-dimensional truss structure was carefully painted in yuzu yellow with the participation of the villagers. The building also boasts the highest rainfall in Japan, so a large roof, including a terrace, was added to create the most beautiful view of the rain and the natural beauty of the Kito in Japan.
In consideration of children and the elderly, the ceilings of private rooms and furniture are kept low, and all elements are combined into one space under the large roof. The large roof is illuminated by warm light, and people gather here to enjoy the daily life and events of the community.
