KITAOKA GROUP has decided a large-scale architectural renovation of its headquarters to create the next trend of workstyles in Japan from the locals. The concept is "the Yoshinogawa VALLEY", which has long supported Tokushima area's nature, culture, and industry, as well as people's daily lives. Since the office extends about 40 meters east to west along the same axis as the Yoshino River, we divide the building into two long buildings and create a valley from the entrance to the north and south. Specifically, the first and second floors are connected by the atrium to interact with employees, a new east-west top light is added on the roof to create a natural environment that allows light and wind to pour in, and the front of the building is slit open to outside, creating an opportunity to interact with the local community.
　Then the approach to the building is transformed into a park by connecting the plants three-dimensionally up to the eaves, and the object is installed in collaboration with advanced technology using a concrete 3D printer and nature, autumn leaves. A symbolic tree over 7 meters high rises inside the building, allowing workers to feel as if they are outside. The top light allows people to work in natural light during the daytime, and at night under like the starry sky with lightings. The materials of the existing and the new materials are treated equally, and the boundary between them is eliminated. In this office, where nature, existing architecture, and technology are fused together, people can work freely and autonomously through Active Based Working. One of the features of this office is that employees can work together with their family members, and the new way of working is practiced by involving employees, their families, and the community.
