KREI Open Source Studioは、コクヨと様々な分野のクリエイターの集合体co-labが、「オープンソース」という働き方を実験するクリエイティブスタジオとして設立した。インハウスとインディペンデントが同居し、それぞれ独自の活動を行うと同時に、互いの敷居を低くして知の交流や共同プロジェクトを推進。相互に関わりあうことで、アウトプットの質を高めあうことを目指した。
この場所は、活動をアクティブに生み出す「ハコ」としてデザインした。まず元々の建物が大きくシンプルなハコであり、その中にオープンソースを触発するため、いくつかのハコを埋め込んでいる。2Fに挿入したブースは個人クリエイターの活動拠点として。B1Fはクリエイターが交流するハコ。そして1Fには、様々な活動やモノが閉じたり開いたりするハコとして、3mキューブのキャンピングボックスがつくられている。

KREI Open Source Studio was established by Kokuyo and co-lab, a collective of creators in various fields, as a creative studio to experiment with the “open source” way of working.
